Assessment Strategy
The learning outcomes of the curriculum for the programmes in Orthodontics, Dento-Alveolar Oral oral surgery, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Primary Dental Care are assessed by a combination of formative and summative assessment. Clinical Supervision and Workplace-based assessments. Workplace-based clinical assessment (WBA) and progress evaluation by clinical supervisors through formal exams or assignments are incorporated into the programmes. The primary method of ongoing evaluation of training participants' development and proficiency will be workplace-based. Students are evaluated on their clinical performance, and evaluation is incorporated into their clinical training. Theyalso participate in individual or group tutorials and conduct audit andclinical governance activities.

The MSc programmes prepare and support students for the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) examination offered by the Royal College of Surgeons. The MFDS is recognised globally as a stamp of professionalachievement and is used in a wide number of countries as the benchmark standardfor local postgraduate assessments.The MFDS confirms the acquisition of competencies fundamental for a dental career within either primary or secondary care. It demonstrates a deeper understandingof both the knowledge and application that is recognised by the Royal Collegeof Surgeons. Possession of a postgraduate qualification such as the MFDS willplay a role in demonstrating suitability for specialist training. On attaining MFDS, you are a member of the Royal College and can use the letters MFDS (RCS) after your name.

Our MSc Degree Full-Time Course
The University of Greater Manchester offers an extensive range of dental full-time clinical MSc programmes delivered at Queens. The programmes adhere to the UK General Dental Council's (GDC) and the Royal College of Surgeons higher Specialist training curricula. They incorporate the new Safe Practitioner Framework launched by the GDC and directly observed practical skills (DOPS) of the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme (ISCP).
